Framing nature
I want to preserve a branch, in memory to all the branches used as swords, cooking utensils and weapons by kids on the playground.
Inspired by the elevation of organic forms done by children during their role plays on the background. The brooch ‘Framing nature’ takes the naive elevation of nature and preserves it into adulthood. Made from up-cycled, lead free pewter and steel, the piece is done using traditional techniques of sand casting real branches into frame.
The brooch is part of a batch production project, exploring the possibilities of sustainability and nostalgia together with craftsmanship efficiency. Made from up-cycled, lead free pewter and 0.7mm stainless steel wire.
The concept begun during my trip to Kazakhstan in winter 2022, whilst visiting my childhood playground with a forest next to it. The pictures presented were taken on Kodak Colour Film on Canon SureShot 105 zoom.
